This case was tried to a Federal Jury in February, 2016. It resulted in the largest Civil Rights verdict in Texas for that year. After several post-verdict motions, and the entering of a verdict by the Judge, the parties agreed to settle the case for $915,000. This saved the City some money on attorney fees that would have been added to the judgment, and also provided certainty to the Plaintiff and avoided a potential appeal.
